Frequently
Asked
Questions

Where are you located?

I am based out of Dallas, Tx and have an in-person office in the Oaklawn/Uptown area.

Do you offer virtual sessions?

Yes! I offer virtual therapy sessions through a secure, HIPAA-compliant platform. Virtual session options are available to anyone anywhere in Texas. Please note that, as I am currently licensed to practice only in Texas, all Texas residents must be physically present in the state at the time of their appointment.

How does telehealth/online therapy work? What are the advantages?

When you set up an online appointment with us, we will email you a link from our HIPAA compliant platform and it’ll take you to where we meet.

Virtual therapy offers several advantages, including increased flexibility and accessibility, especially for individuals who may face challenges with transportation, geographic limitations, or busy schedules. Additionally, clients often report feeling more comfortable and less anxious in the familiar environment of their own home, which can enhance the therapeutic process.

If you’re considering virtual therapy, know that it can be a highly effective option to support your mental health journey. If you have any questions or concerns, we’re here to help you feel confident in your decision to pursue telehealth services.

How long do I need to be in therapy?

The length of therapy depends on your individual needs and goals. Some people may experience significant relief in just a few sessions, while others may benefit from longer-term therapy. We will regularly assess your progress and adjust the treatment plan as needed. Therapy is a collaborative process, and we will work together to determine what feels most beneficial for you.

Do you accept insurance?

We do not accept insurance at this time. We are a self-pay practice, which allows us to provide more flexible and personalized care without the restrictions often imposed by insurance companies. However, if your insurance offers out-of-network benefits, we can provide you with a receipt that you may submit to your insurance company for potential reimbursement.

Do you offer sliding scale spots?

Yes! We understand that therapy can be an investment, and we want to make it as accessible as possible. A limited number of sliding scale appointments are available. If you are experiencing financial hardship, please contact us to discuss this option.

What is the process for starting therapy?

Great question! I offer a free 15 complimentary phone consultation in order to discuss your needs and goals for counseling. From there, we can discuss scheduling and set your initial appointment. Please know that the complimentary phone consultation is optional and sometimes clients opt for scheduling their initial intake session.

How do I schedule an appointment?

You can schedule an appointment by calling us at 469-772-0124 or by emailing us at kelleigh@thesanctuarycollectivetx.com. If you prefer, you can use our online booking system [Here]. We're excited to hear from you.

How do I know if therapy is right for me?

It’s completely normal to wonder if therapy is the right choice. Therapy can be a helpful space if you're feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or struggling with emotions, memories, or life transitions that feel difficult to navigate alone. You don’t need to have everything figured out to start—sometimes just recognizing that something isn't quite right or that you'd like to make a change is enough to begin the journey.

If you’re experiencing symptoms like anxiety, depression, difficulty trusting others, or if past trauma is affecting your daily life, therapy can help you process those experiences in a safe and supportive environment. It's also a great option if you're simply seeking greater clarity, self-awareness, or personal growth.

If you’re unsure, a phone consultation or your first session can provide an opportunity to explore your thoughts and feelings in a way that feels comfortable. We’ll work together to determine if therapy is the right fit for you and tailor it to your unique needs. Here to support you every step of the way, no matter where you are in your journey.

What is confidentiality and how is privacy protected?

Yes, confidentiality is one of the most important aspects of our work together. All sessions are confidential, and we will not share your information with anyone without your consent, except in cases where we are legally required to do so (e.g., risk of harm to yourself or others, or as mandated by law). We’ll review confidentiality and informed consent at the beginning of our work together.

Do you work with adolescents?

Yes, I love working with teens. I provide trauma-informed therapy for adolescents and emphasize the importance of caregiver involvement in treatment. If you are interested in therapy for a younger individual, please reach out!

What is EMDR or Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing?

EMDR is a powerful, evidence-based therapy designed to help individuals heal from trauma and other distressing life experiences. It works by helping the brain reprocess memories that may be "stuck," allowing them to lose their emotional charge. Through a series of guided eye movements or other forms of bilateral stimulation (such as tapping or sounds), EMDR helps the brain integrate these memories in a healthier way, reducing symptoms like anxiety, intrusive thoughts, and emotional triggers. This approach is particularly effective for trauma and is widely recognized as a highly effective, trauma-focused treatment that can promote lasting healing.

What is TF-CBT or Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy?

TF-CBT (Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) is a structured therapy designed to help children and adolescents cope with trauma. It combines cognitive-behavioral techniques with trauma-sensitive interventions to address the emotional and psychological impact of traumatic experiences, helping young people process their feelings and develop healthy coping strategies. It addresses their unique developmental needs and helps them process traumatic experiences, making it an evidence-based approach for treating trauma-related symptoms in youth.

What is Trauma Informed Care?

Trauma-informed care is an approach to providing support that recognizes the widespread impact of trauma on individuals. It focuses on creating a safe, supportive environment where clients feel respected and empowered. This approach emphasizes understanding the effects of trauma and integrating this awareness into all aspects of treatment to promote healing and recovery.

What is your cancellation policy?

We require at least 24 hours’ notice for cancellations or rescheduling to avoid a cancellation fee. If you miss an appointment without providing prior notice, you will be charged the full session fee. Life happens, so if you need to make a change, please let us know as soon as possible, and we’ll work with you to find a solution.
